Italian Federation Chief Attacks in Stadium

Italian Football Federation president Giancarlo Abete has been hit at the stadium in the country following the postponement of a series of mid-week games.

Snow has caused Parma-Juventus clash Tuesday night to be called off, while two-games-Catania and Siena-Bologna and Fiorentina have already fallen victims of winter conditions on Wednesday.

With temperatures should fall to -10 degrees Celsius, the lowest level in the north this weekend, AC Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani has even asked his team’s clash with Napoli to be delayed days in advance.

“One of the problems, if not the largest in Italian football, is not having the stages that are well equipped, we need structures that are more accessible to fans and the spectacle of football. Although television is essential, it lives only if there are sports fans in the stadiums,” said Abete.

Fans in Italy have long complained that the stages are not very friendly places and presences are often embarrassing, sell-out crowd with an extreme rarity.

Juventus moved into their own stadium this season to become the first team in Italy to have a private ownership of land.

And Juve general manager Giuseppe Marotta has been particularly critical of the authorities of his team after the game in Parma was called off.
